Hon. Raphael G.C Trotman, M.P.

Minister of Natural Resources

Minister Raphael Gregory Conwright Trotman spent much of his youthful years pursuing studies in Law, International Relations, Security, and Development Economics and has dedicated much of his adult life to serving his country.

His academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados; Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago; a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations (Security & Development Economics) from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA; a Post Graduate Certificate in Mediation from the Harvard Law School, USA and a Post Graduate Certificate in Defence Planning & Resource Management from the National Defense University, USA.

Minister Trotman began his professional life as an Attorney–at–law and member of the Guyana Bar Association. His love for service and desire to make a difference led to his active participation in Politics. Minister Trotman served with the Georgetown Mayor and City Council from 1994-1998; as a Member of Parliament from 1998 to present day and during that period as Speaker of the National Assembly from 2012-2015.


Hon. Raphael G.C Trotman has had a prolific political career with continued demonstration of commitment to the service of his country. In May 2015 he became Minister of Governance, a position he held briefly before being reassigned as Minister of Natural Resources; a portfolio which allows him to not only serve but protect Guyana’s Natural patrimony.

Professor Suresh Narine, PhD

Professor Suresh Narine, named in 2011 as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Leaders, is originally from Guyana. Professor Narine has an impressive academic career that includes numerous awards including the prestigious “Growing Alberta Leadership Award for Innovation” received in 2005 for pioneering the development of technology to produce polyurethanes from vegetable oils among many other accomplishments.


Also in 2005, Professor Narine accepted a presidential appointment as the Director of Guyana’s Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), a role which he maintains, together with his academic appointment as Senior Professor for Trent University, his alma mater, in the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry and as Director of the Trent Centre for Biomaterials Research. Professor Narine is currently the Ontario Research Chair in Green Chemistry and Engineering and the NSERC/GFO/ERS Senior Research Chair in Lipid Derived Biomaterials.


For his work in the development and commercialization of biofuel technology in Guyana, Professor Narine was awarded the Guyana/Canada Special Achievement Award in 2007 and in 2011 he received an award from Guyana for his contributions to Science and Technology in Canada and for his contributions in this field towards the development of Guyana.


Professor Narine will be involved in establishing Guyana-based training programs for skilled–labour and management and in guiding CGX activities related to social responsibility and impact.


Mr. Daniel Sandoval

Scholar, Center for Economic and Administrative Sciences, University of Guadalajara, Mexico

Mr. Daniel Sandoval is a Scholar, Center for Economic and Administrative Sciences, University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Mr. Sandoval holds a M. Sc. in Knowledge Extraction, University of East Anglia and M.A. in Economic Development and International Cooperation, University of Guadalajara.


He has also Has received grant from Mexico’s National Council for Science and Technology. His academic interests focus on South-South Economic Cooperation. He has received tenure at the Institute for Regional Studies at University of Guadalajara in 1989. Since 1994, at the Centre of Economic and Administrative Sciences, University of Guadalajara, Mexico.


Mr. Sandoval has also served as Consultant for the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP. And was Deputy Director at the Technical and Scientific Division, Mexican Institute for International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And was Director of Data Analytics at the Centre of Public Opinion StudieRyan Anthony Alexanders, University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Mr. Sandoval has received grants from Mexico´s National Council for Science and Technology. His academic interests focus on South – South Economic Cooperation. And consultants in data analytics for research projects in social science and economics.


Ryan Anthony Alexander

Name: Ryan Anthony Alexander

Born: 28th August 1975 in the town of New Amsterdam at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Member of the Roman Catholic Church (Church of the Ascension) New Amsterdam.

Attended the Berbice High School, graduated in 1992. Graduated from the Guyana School of Agriculture (1994-1996). Completed a course in Computer Science at New Amsterdam Technical Institute. Graduated in Marketing/Accounts from the University of Guyana – Berbice Campus (2002 – 2005).

Married in 2006 to Sharon Alexander (nee Bacchus) present Town Clerk of New Amsterdam. Mr. Alexander is the father of three children, two sons and a daughter Xavio, Sergio and Riyo.

Mr. Alexander pursued a course in General Management at the American Management Association through the Guyana Business School.




Mr. Alexander has held the following positions: 1. Chairperson - Kaicalance Events Committee 2. President - All Saints Primary PTA 3. Treasurer - Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) 4. Committee Member - National Events Committee – Region #6

Mr. Alexander is the current President of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce & Development Association (BCCDA).

Kiran Mattai, LLB, LLM

Head of Legal and Licensing Division, Guyana Energy Agency

Kiran Mattai is currently the Head of Legal and Licensing Division of the Guyana Energy Agency and a University of Guyana alumna who graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Law (Distinction). Ms. Mattai went on to the Hugh Wooding Law School to attain a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) and then onto Robert Gordon University Aberdeen in Scotland, United Kingdom to attain a Masters in Oil and Gas Law (LLM) passing with a Distinction.
